Tell us about your business:

Iā€™m Anna, from Anna Knapton OT a sole clinician who specialised in providing care and support to older adults with chronic conditions living in the community. I also complete specialist assessments for NDIS participants to allow them to achieve their goals of supported independent living. I have been an occupational therapist for almost 17years here on the Sunshine Coast. I am passionate about clients having choice of where they live and that they remain safe in their homes.

How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?

I am applying for the grant as this will allow me to put this money towards upgrading my current vehicle a Hyundai i30. A bigger car with a larger boot space will allow me to continue to provide quality occupational therapy to my clients by allowing me to have greater choice in the items I wish to trial and have the option of brining multiple pieces with me to the in-home trial with my client. A bigger car would provide opportunity to book multiple equipment trials on the same day increasing my capacity to service more clients per day. This will reduce client wait times, improve safety and confidence of clients in their own homes, maintain independence, reduce the need for extra services, peace of mind for their family, can reduce the risk of falls, hospital admissions and early entry to residential care.

Please outline what you would spend the grant on:

The $10k would be combined with my own savings to upgrade my car. As a community therapist, I cover a large area of SE Queensland. A bigger, more robust car than my current 2014 Hyundai i30 will increase safety while driving great distances but also allow me serve more clients. This will be done through seeing multiple clients on the same day who have equipment needs. There is a huge and growing need for OT especially in under serviced areas such as Gympie and this is evidence by a consistent waitlist for clients waiting to be seen for OT assessments.
