Tell us about your business:
I create unconventional custom jewellery for rule-breakers and story-makers. My goal is to change the jewellery industry, one ring at a time, by creating ethical, locally-made designs for those who feel unrepresented by the traditional wedding industry. My jewellery is one-of-a-kind or made in small runs in a sunny Sydney studio. There are no large warehouses of excess, seasonal stock here. Most jewels have a home before they’re even made. Crafted in ethically sourced gemstones and Australian precious metals, this is jewellery that speaks to your values around individuality, sustainability and love.
How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?
My DIY brand has served me well over the past 12 years. However the website is slow, the shop isn’t optimised for sales and the brand is looking dated. As a single person business, I’m limited in the number of customers I can work with on bespoke projects, stifling further growth. Funding would enable me to build a fast, e-commerce-optimised Shopify website, launch giftable, ethically-made collections and promote ready-to-order products through Meta ads. Unlike custom jewellery, this ecommerce focus is scalable and will absolutely transform my business.
Please outline what you would spend the grant on:
1. Brand strategy, logo and visual elements, to be applied to upgraded packaging, photography and marketing ($2,000)
2. Shopify website to promote ready-to-order jewellery collections ($5,500)
3. 2 new collections with ethically-sourced gems and Responsible Jewellery Council-certified precious metals ($2,000)
4. Facebook ads to scale ecommerce sales ($500)
Figures include only the funds supported by Spark (actual expenditure is higher). Funding would enable me to support more couples who feel unrepresented by the traditional jewellery industry. I would add to my one-on-one custom design experience with a more scalable option for those who want the simplicity of ready-made designs.
