Tell us about your business:
I am a knitting designer and teacher. I teach workshops Australia-wide to share slow fashion skills and preach the wool-being benefits of knitting. My main clients are yarn stores who would like to use knitting workshops as a tool for community engagement. I collaborate with my client to plan a “stackable retreat”: a weekend program of learning, creativity and connection that is designed to address the needs and interests of their community. I also publish original knitting patterns, freelance for knitting publications, and have published two low content books on Amazon: the Knitter's Learning Journal, and the Yarn Store Passport.
How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?
$10K would help scale my business by developing a new product and revenue stream, and initiating workflows for sustainable growth.
New product
Developing an online learning platform with high quality self-paced learning courses based on popular Dear Pru workshops would create a new revenue stream, open up new markets and provide an opportunity to launch a subscription model.
Scalability
I keep overheads low by performing most roles in my business. It is also keeping my business small. In order to scale up sustainably and increase my creative output (eg. Knitting patterns) and profits, I need to outsource and streamline workflows.

Four key investments:
Contracting a web designer to build an online learning platform on dearpru.com : I recently invested in improving the functionality of my website in preparation for an LMS: this grant would mean it’s completed sooner and to a better standard.
Studio time to film evergreen instructional and promotional video content for my self-paced online courses, website and social media.
Developing a streamlined pattern design and publication workflow in collaboration with a graphic designer and tech editor to increase the output of my original patterns, and income.
Contracting a VA to streamline my proposals/ contracts process.
