How has the business been funded to date?

Tell us about your business:

At Sphiker, we are committed to providing our customers with the best possible experience when exploring the great outdoors. Our vision is to be the go-to destination for outdoor enthusiasts, providing high-quality plant-based food made from surplus and 'seconds' produce.
We do this by utilizing surplus produce, dehydrating it, and turning it into shelf-stable meals that simply require the addition of water and cooking for a short time.
It is essential to me to ensure all facets of my business are as environmentally sustainable as possible so we have ensured the packaging is 100% home compostable, all scraps go back to feed livestock and we produce minimal waste.

How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?

An infusion of additional funds would enable more effective marketing for my business. Being self-funded, I've struggled to allocate funds beyond equipment, wages, insurance, and other immediate expenses.
I currently have strong support and excellent reviews backing me, and I aim to use this to expand my audience. I have traditionally handled most of my own media and marketing, but I think it's time to increase my visibility. Focusing on boosting our public profile will help us enter the wholesale market more successfully and position us as the only SA dehydrated, lightweight sustainably made hike food.

Please outline what you would spend the grant on:

I plan to use the funds for marketing advice to promote the Sphiker brand and to develop new branded packaging. Additionally, I intend to invest in a new dehydrator designed specifically for drying rice and pasta. This will enable my meals to cook faster, making them even more convenient for hikers, cyclists, and sailors.
