How has the business been funded to date?

  • Bootstrapped

Tell us about your business:

Wild Baby is a baby and kids nutrition company. We create fresh, cold pressed baby food and kids smoothies (using High Pressure Processing). Our mission is twofold; to provide a fresh option for babies, and fresh snacks for young children, and to support busy parents and carers with ready made food that is healthy and nutritious. There are currently no fresh baby food options in the Australian market, only shelf stable and frozen and we would love to launch to make this option a reality. We have a product that is tested and ready to go and we want to make this available to Australian babies and their families.

How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?

Up until now, we have bootstrapped our business to get a product ready for market, it has been tweaked and tested by our contractor chef, food scientists and then tested on a small group of friends. We have four young children so bootstrapping is not an option anymore and we require financial backing to launch product to market. We re so passionate about our product - it would be the ONLY fresh baby food product available - and a grant would mean to difference between launching and not being able to just yet.

Please outline what you would spend the grant on:

$5k or $10k would allow us to deliver a small scale launch. The costs to be able to do this: our chef contractor ($2k), packaging ($2k) and logisitics ($1k). If it were $10k, we would double the quantity for launch and conduct small trial both direct to consumer model and retail. If it were $5k we would try soft launch in a small number of already interested retail stores. Thank you!
