Tell us about your business:
Tan brand for home and in salon, I have been tanning for 18 years, serviced celebrities, brides and all walks of life, creating the perfect natural looking glow, so I wanted to create a safe alternative to sunbaking as I have a long family history of melanoma and skin cancer, but I wanted to create a brand that looks amazing and natural, smells great, quick drying, fast wash off time, but not over complicate it with too many options. 1 tan, 2 shades, suits all skin types.
A beauty brand with inclusive and diverse marketing, we used our golden girls (some in their 80s) girls with Down syndrome, plus size models and POC. Our diverse marketing shows our range works on everyone not just youthful flawless skin.
How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?
The grant would make us more visible online and would create more ecom sales- as we are still a fairly new brand we are competing with large brands like Bondi sands who have huge marketing budgets and they are no longer an Australian company (now owned by billion dollar Japanese company) so every dollar would help me be more profitable and allow us to do more for our awareness campaigns around skin cancers and encouraging people to fake it.
Please outline what you would spend the grant on:
It would be amazing to create more awareness through Meta Ads to be able to pump more money around the education of tanning and its health benefits about keeping people out of the sun. In 2021 there were still 1455 deaths in Australia by melanoma - this number isn’t going down and we need to encourage more people to “fake it” as a real tan can be deadly. I would love to put more money towards ads to get a higher reach and educate more people about the statistics and why they should stay out of the sun. I would use the full grant towards Facebook and TikTok Ads.
