Tell us about your business:

Higher Co is an event prop hire business that specialises in customized wooden event backdrops and props to suit different themes for our clients needs. As a forward-thinking individual, owner Sophie Hurst, noticed a gap in the market to produce these kinds of things for events quickly and efficiently while living in Regional WA-Kalgoorlie to be exact. At Higher Co we are dedicated to serving our clients which range from businesses to individuals to even supplying props for universities! We love seeing the expression of joy and entertainment on our clients faces and also collaborating with other local businesses to ensure that money stays locally to boost the livability of our region.

How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?

At Higher Co, we thrive on creativity, quality, and innovation. Our custom event backdrops have been the hallmark of our success, bringing joy and memorable moments to countless events. However, we believe there is always room to enhance our offerings and elevate our business to new heights. This grant would enable us to add a new asset to our business, with a flow on effect to offer a greater range of products that we can supply not only locally but also through our e-commerce store that we are still in the process of building. It would mean immense impact on our business and the ability to further develop our skills as well.

Please outline what you would spend the grant on:

If successful with the Spark Women in Business Grant, Higher Co would use the funding to purchase a state of the art laser cutting printer to grow our services, stock and product lines. We have big dreams of being able to create our own customised neon signage in-house which is something that is not currently offered in Kalgoorlie, WA.
