Tell us about your business:

The group fitness class in the coastal town of Jurien Bay, WA, focuses on uniting the community and celebrating individuality while jumpstarting physical and mental well-being. My classes focus on healing, encouraging women to support each other, and promoting kindness to oneself and others. Recently, I've begun offering ballet lessons to children in our town and the neighboring areas. My passion for dance and mental health has made this venture incredibly fulfilling, having passion for people and body positivity to normalize natural body shapes and educating the community about health over thinness.

How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?

Securing the right equipment is crucial for offering a variety of classes and genres to properly establish my small dance school. The opportunity to host visiting teachers from major cities like Perth for pop-up classes is exciting. Additionally, there is a strong interest from numerous young teenage girls in learning dance instruction, highlighting the need for educational support to nurture and boost their confidence in teaching.

Please outline what you would spend the grant on:

To enhance our current space, I plan to add dance equipment like ballet barres, portable mirrors, and uniforms. Additionally, I aim to paint the area and install an air conditioner, especially since we have a physically impaired student with a heart condition who requires a cooler environment during the summer. Transforming the space to resemble a dance school, rather than old squash courts, will contribute to a more professional appearance.
