Schusser Threads is a Melbourne label that focuses on creating unique outdoor apparel. Every item is designed, patterned, cut, sewn and seam-sealed on Wurundjeri Land (Wandin, VIC). The label is built on a belief that clothing should have a purpose, and that every item worn should enhance the performance of the wearer. Schusser Threads also provides a locally made option for those looking to step away from mass produced outdoor clothing and making products to order, allows customers to request small alterations to their products to make them more comfortable depending on their unique needs.
How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?
The money in this grant would allow Schusser Threads to purchase one or two new machines and an ongoing subscription to new pattern-making software that would streamline product CMT (cut-make-trim) processes. Streamlining CMT processes would allow me to produce more products in less time, and opens up opportunities to design, develop and test more new products which customers respond well to.
Having the ability and funds to speak to a business or financial adviser would also give me the opportunity to work towards making the business a full-time job.
Please outline what you would spend the grant on:
I would be grateful to be able to purchase a bartacker, refurbish a hydrostatic head testing unit, purchase an industrial ironing unit, or purchase heat press. An ongoing CLO3D software subscription and training would be covered in either of the two grant packages. I would also love to speak to a financial adviser as this is something that has been recommended to me, but I have never had the funds to make it happen and I am unsure how much this may cost for continued advice. Being able to service my current machines would also be highly beneficial.
