How has the business been funded to date?

  • Bootstrapped

Tell us about your business:

Inspired by our first born son, I searched for a comforter as his first “best friend” to hold closest to his heart. I soon realised every comforter on the market was mass-produced with synthetic materials. So I designed and ethically manufactured my gorgeous lullaby comforters. The worldwide Little Koko community is made of families who care about the stories behind the products they offer their babies to hold closest to their hearts. They are families inspired by love and nature; valuing products made in ways that are kind to the earth and fair to her people. What better sentiment can we teach our children?

How would $5k or $10k enable you to create more profit and impact in your business?

10k would have life changing and profound impact on my business. 10k would cover holistic marketing upgrades to help my message reach more customers, which means more safe and conscious baby products in more families. It would assist the production of my final comforters designs; two loveable and highly requested characters to generate a renewed buzz around my business! It would also allow me to establish the Women’s Circle cloth pad project to create self-sustaining income opportunities for the participants and allowing equitable and dignified menstrual care and access to livelihood activities for the customers.

Please outline what you would spend the grant on:

I would focus on SEO health and prioritising my customer relationships through an upgrade of my email marketing campaign and Customer Referral Program. It would assist the production of my new comforter designs through both the purchase of materials and manufacturing costs. Without this capital, it would be very difficult to ensure the future of my business, as the production requirements of my comforters hold the highest upfront costs. I would also be able to fund the purchase of material (cotton and flannel), patterns, snap machine, translated care instructions and menstrual hygiene psychoeducation handbook for the Women’s Circle cloth pads.
